When James Richard Baker was born on October 2, 1892, in Mississippi, his father, James, was 27 and his mother, Martha, was 26. He had one son and one daughter with Thelma Corinne Butler. He then married Velta Wallace on January 28, 1934, in Phillips, Arkansas. He died in 1976 at the age of 84.
