Robert Joseph (Joe) Motes, 67 of Bradford, went to be with the Lord Sunday, February 11, 2018. He was born September 12, 1950 in Newport, Arkansas to the late Levi and Eva (West) Motes of Weiner, Arkansas.
Joe was a Machinist, Bible Scholar, Bible Teacher, and Minister. He was a Christian first and foremost. Joe’s main goal in life was teaching and preaching the Gospel. He often filled in as pastor for many small churches. He was a member of the Bradford Assembly of God Church. Joe loved reading the bible and quoting scriptures. His hobbies included hunting, target practicing, working on cars, and especially listening to his sons play music. Joe enjoyed visiting with and spending time with his friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alta Mae (Brownderville) Motes, one grandson, Elijah Bradley Motes, two sisters, Audrey Motes Huskey, and Kathy Motes, and his parents.
He is survived by five children, Jason (Lindsey) Motes of Jacksonville, Jonathan (Danyelle) of Bradford, Joshua (Tonya) Motes of Bradford, Aaron Motes of Bradford, and Joseph Cameron (Cassie) Motes of Batesville, one step-son, Chris (Misty) Witcher of Maumelle; two step-daughters, Shawnna Lawrence of Wynne, and Charla (Tony) Huff of Tennessee; two brothers, Mike (Erlene) West of Senatobia, Mississippi, and Dr. Andy (Judy) Motes of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; two sisters, Margaret (Sam) Bufford of Columbiaville, Michigan, and Mildred (Bill) Mount of Bradford; eight grandchildren, Tirah Motes, Zane Motes, Twila Motes, Micah Motes, Benjamin Motes, Eva Motes, Daxton James Motes, and Cyrus Joseph Motes; twelve step-grandchildren, Cameron Renee Morris, Kyle Harrison, Nikki Harrison, Kristin Witcher, Tyler Ferguson, Jessica Wolfe, Sunnee Dumas, Havianna Huff, Quentin, Shay and Brodie Acklin; three step great-grandchildren, Londyn, Lewis, and Kyle Morris; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Those honored to serve as Pallbearers are Bill Mount, Sam Bufford, Chris Witcher, Gary Hatfield, Walker Brown, and Larry Dale Steele II. Honorary Pallbearers are Charles Mount, Tim Mount, and Landon Mount.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 13, 2018 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Bradford Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with services beginning at 3:00 p.m. with Bro. Jerry Smith and Bro. Cecil Walker officiating. Interment will follow at Hickman Cemetery.
