Charles Verneil Hinton, Sr., a resident of Wynne, Arkansas, departed this life, Sunday, November 8, 2009, at the VA Medical Center in Memphis, Tennessee, at the age of Eighty-Seven.

He was born, February 10, 1922, in Wynne, Arkansas, the son of William and Elta Lois Marshall Hinton.

He married Miss Alta Christine White, April 17, 1946. Mr. Hinton was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Wynne. He served in the US Navy during WWII, earned his master degree from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville working as a teacher and school administrator, retiring in 1984. He enjoyed reading his bible, yard work, gardening, carpentry, sharing his garden vegetables with his church family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Marshall Floyd Hinton and Doyle Hinton.

Charles is survived by his wife of sixty-three years: Christine Hinton of the home, one son: Charles Hinton, Jr. and wife Vicki of Armona, California, three daughters: Carol Harber and husband Jerry of Memphis, Tennessee, Gale Guest and husband Edward of Colt, Arkansas, Judith Hogue and husband of Visalia, California, eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren.

Interment was at the Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in West Helena, Arkansas.
