Leona M. Bennett, 86, of Bradford, died Thursday, November 7, 2013 at her home. She was born May 9, 1927 in Flint, Michigan to Thelma Ruth (Charters) Sproule and the late Leslie H. Sproule. Leona was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and played the piano, organ and guitar. She loved to crochet and listen to country and gospel music. She was a good wife and wonderful homemaker to her husband of 49 years and 5 children.
She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Bennett; a sister, Irma C. Bray of Burton, Michigan; mother, Thelma Sproule of Burton, Michigan; a nephew, William Bray of Burton, Michigan; 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her father, three siblings, Thelma, Jim and Leslie; five children, Terry Travis, Virgil Bennett, Carol Ann Bennett, Darell Wayne Bennett, and Ruth Ann Travis.
Visitation will be Monday, November 11, 2013 from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. in the Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Don Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in the Hickmon Cemetery by Powell Funeral Home Bald Knob-Judsonia.
