Merlene (Malone) Taylor, 89 of Waldo, Arkansas died Saturday, May 29, 2010 at the Magnolia Regional Medical Center in Magnolia. She was born August 8, 1920 in Waldo, Arkansas to the late Jessie James and Martha Ella (Chriswell) Malone.
Merlene was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Waldo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Turner Taylor; son, Terrell Taylor; brother, Willie Malone; and sister, Velma Malone.
Survivors are her daughter, Jean Roberson and husband Henry of Waldo, Arkansas; granddaughters, Tawana Staten and husband Henry of Springhill, Louisiana, Lanita Taylor of Freeport, Texas; great grandchildren, Taylor and Droux Staten of Springhill, Louisiana, Ashley and Austin Perez of Freeport, Texas; sister-in-law, Jackie Malone of Willisville, Arkansas; one niece, several great nieces and nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at Lewis Chapel with Bro. Petie Ward officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. of Magnolia. Visitation will be Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Andy Staten, Cloyd Cloud, James Adkins, John Henry, Wesley Taylor, and Edward Winberry. Honorary pallbearer will be Bobby Harper.
