Donald G. Elam, 55 of Waldo, Arkansas died Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at the Magnolia Hospital in Magnolia.
He was born October 5, 1953 in Magnolia and was born to Jeanette (Phillips) and the late Aubrey "Shine" Elam. Donald was a special projects operator for Alcoa which is now Sapa, served in the Army National Guard from 1972 to 1978. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Waldo, the Genealogy Society, and loved the Arkansas Razorbacks and Dallas Cowboys.
Survivors are his wife, Ann (Bigelow) Elam of Waldo; daughters, Carol and Mike Carter of Stephens, Lisa and David Stamper of Magnolia, and Donna and Jeremy Covey of Benton, Arkansas; mother, Jeanette Elam of Waldo; brother, Royce and Phyllis Elam of McNeil; grandson, Tyler Stamper of Magnolia; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 29, 2008 at Lewis Chapel with Bro. Dennis Cole officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. of Magnolia. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Guy Lightfoot, John Lightfoot, David Spradlin, Johnny Pate, David Clark, and Darrell Collier. Honorary pallbearers will be Cedric Strickland, Greg Key, David Butler, James Donald Pate, and Ronnie Pate.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
