Mrs. Sallie Virginia Simmermacher, the former Sallie Virginia Cox, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John D. Cox, was born October 2, 1872, at Elsberry, MO. She came to Stuttgart when she was 16 and was married to John P. Simmermacher, Sept. 3, 1891. To this union three children were born: Mrs. D.M. Stiles, Topeka, Kas.; Mrs. Jake Parker, DeWitt, Ark. and Hubert Simmermacher of Sapulpa, Okla. all of whom survive including her husband.

Other relatives include two brothers, Jasper and Eli Cox, both of Sapulpa, Okla.; four half-brothers, Jim Cox, Sapulpa, Okla., Will and Charles Cox of Winfield, MO, John Cox of St. Louis, MO; and one half-sister, Mrs. Skinner of Old Monroe, MO. Mrs. Simmermacher also leaves six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Simmermacher died on November 14, at 2 a.m., at the age of 71. She joined the Baptist church at an early age and was an active worker for a number of years. Because she enjoyed the fellowship of the Loyal Daughters of the Christian church, she joined them several years ago.
She was a member of the Eastern Star, the Royal Neighbors and the Degree of Honor Lodges.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Turpin Funeral Home with the Rev. C.E. Wagner assisted by the Rev. H.B. Vaught of DeWitt, officiating.

Burial was at Lone Tree Cemetery where special services were conducted by Eastern Star members.

To all her friends she was known as "Aunt Sallie," and she leaves a legacy of prosperity greater than houses and land. More valuable than silver and gold, that of an untarnished name, and because of that memory, her children rise to call her blessed.
