Mrs. Berna Dean Harvey Ridge, longtime resident of McCrory, Arkansas, died Friday, September 7, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett, Tennessee. She had just celebrated her 81st birthday.
Mrs. Ridge was born in Oil Trough, Arkansas to Oscar W. and Beatrix Morris Harvey on September 2, 1931. She was a 1949 graduate of Bradford High School and was married to Joe Norris Ridge on June 25, 1949. Berna was a factory worker until she decided to pursue a career in nursing and earned her nurses degree in Newport. She was employed by Dr. Steven Collier at the McCrory Clinic for many years. She was a faithful member of the McCrory First United Methodist Church and participated in all of its activities as long as her health permitted. Sewing, quilting, crafts, cooking, going to the Senior Citizen’s activities, taking care of her dogs and cats and most of all spending time with her family and spoiling the grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the things she enjoyed.
