John Earl Bailey Jr., 77, died Oct. 14, 2016, at Bradford House in Bentonville, Ark. He was born Nov. 22, 1938, to John Earl Bailey Sr. and Callie Jeannette Bailey in Oklahoma City.

He graduated from Anderson (Mo.) High School in 1957. He lettered in numerous sports, but his favorite was basketball. He went to Northeastern Oklahoma College in Miami, Okla., where he played basketball and football; his team went to the Junior Rose Bowl.

He married Sharon, the love of his life, in 1967 in Stilwell, Okla. His work included being produce manager and manager of Jim's Thrifty Mart in Fayetteville, Ark. He then owned various businesses in Anderson.

He will be greatly missed as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon, of 49 years; his children, Lee Ann Bailey of Tahlequah, Okla., Susan Hooten of Eufaula, Okla., John Bailey III of California, Kelli Bailey of Chewey, Okla.; stepsons, Steven Bailey of Rogers, Ark., and Michael Carney of Florida; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Service was held Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016, at Northwest Assembly of God Church, 301 SW Unity Blvd., Bentonville. Viewing preceded the service.

Pastor Joe Lyons and Pastor Darrell Waits officiated.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northwest Assembly of God Church or Life Source International, 602 S. School Avenue, Fayetteville, AR 72701.

Arrangements were under the direction of Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory.
