John Willard “Red” Shelden, Sr., 91, of Pleasant Grove, Arkansas passed away November 2, 2006 at his home in Pleasant Grove. Mr. Shelden was born on March 17, 1915 in Homnoke, Arkansas to the late Johnny Shelden and Irene Wilson Shelden.

Mr. Shelden was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He served in the United States Army during World War II.

He is survived by two sons, Johnny Shelden and wife, Diana of Pleasant Grove, and Charles Shelden of Pleasant Grove; a brother, Millard Shelden of San Antonio, Texas; two grandchildren, Elena Decker of Searcy and Kimberly Russell of Batesville; five great-grandchildren, Brock, Jake, Clay, Jordan, and Katherine; several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Shelden was preceded in death by his wife, Rebal Mae Shelden; a brother, Thomas Shelden, and a sister, Earnestine Kapales.

Memorials may be made to the Stone County Medical Center Foundation in Mountain View, or to the Shriner’s Burn Hospital.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2006 at 1 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park in West Helena. Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home. Reverend Rodger Hooker will officiate.
