Joe Allen Crawley of Jay died Friday, March 10, 2006, at Integris Grove General Hospital. He was 90.

Crawley was born Sept. 17, 1915, in the Yergain community, northeast of Jay, to Ervie Crawley and Pearl (Hammontree) Crawley. He grew up in the Yergain community, attending school there for eight years before graduating from Jay High School in 1935 as valedictorian. He moved to Grove in 1973, from Tulsa.

He was a World War II veteran of the Army.

He worked the U.S. Postal Service for 35 years. He was a member of Southside Church of Christ and the American Legion of Jay.

He married Della “Jewell” Hannah on March 28, 1937, in Maysville, Ark. She survives, of the home.

Additional survivors include two sons, Jim Crawley and his wife Debbie of Sapulpa and John Crawley of Jay, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Southside Church of Christ in Sapulpa with Steve Stenzel officiating assisted by Robert Lawson. Burial will be in Maysville Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay.
