William Everette "Scotty" Scott, 96
A Going Home Celebration for William Everette "Scotty" Scott of Mountain Home, Arkansas, was held at 2:00 pm, on Sunday, February 14, 2016, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home
Chapel, with Pastor Bill Hughes officiating. Military Honors were provided by the Ozark V.F.W. Post #3246 and United States Air Force Honor Guards.
Scotty left this earth on February 12, 2016, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 96, surrounded by his family. He was born on November 7, 1919, in Clarkson, Mississippi, the son of John and Etna Palmer Scott. Scotty served in the U.S. Air Force and was a proud Veteran of WWII. He married his love, Omega Bivens, on May 26, 1949, in Marked Tree, Arkansas. He worked as a teacher and administrator for the Arkansas Public Schools for 30 years before retiring to Cherokee Village where he and his wife spent many wonderful years enjoying boating, fishing and entertaining friends and families at their lake home. Scotty moved to Mountain Home in 1992 where he enjoyed many more years of retirement traveling and spending time with his growing family of great-grandchildren. Scotty's faith was a vital part of his daily life. He was active in several Baptist churches in the communities in which he lived.
Scotty is survived by his greatest treasures, his wife, Omega Scott of Mountain Home, AR; two daughters, Ann (Gary) Cobb of Cherokee Village, AR and Jan (Jerry) Crawford of Mountain Home, AR; three grandchildren, Lori (Rob) Stanton of Mountain Home, AR, Melissa (Danny) Vice of Heber Springs, AR and Scott (Lisa) Crawford of Springfield, MO; five great-grandchildren, Annie (Matt) Brink of Omaha, AR, Caelei Day of Mountain Home, AR, Derick, Nedia and Charlee Crawford of Springfield, MO and one on the way, his future name-sake.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Merwin and John M. Scott, Jr. and grandson-in-law, Michael Day.
While Scotty will be greatly missed by his family, they find great comfort in knowing he was a Godly man that loved the Lord and was secure in his salvation and eternal life in Christ. He was a blessing to all that had the privilege of knowing him.
Entombment is in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Mausoleum, Mountain Home, Arkansas.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks.
Arrangements are by Kirby and Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
