GRAVETTE — Dean Austin of Maysville passed on Dec. 6 at his home at the age of 85. Dean was born on Dec. 27, 1930, to Orville and Verda Austin in Maysville.
Dean married Jo Lillian Allen on July 14, 1953. They were married 49 years. Dean graduated from the University of Arkansas. Dean managed Peterson's LP Gas Company for over 30 years and Empire Gas Co. previously. Dean and Jo ran a beef cattle operation, raised crops, and achieved state award winning breeder hen production on the family farm.
Dean later married Betty Teague on March 12, 2004. They continued raising cattle.
Survivors include his wife Betty; daughter Connie and Roy Jackson of Pryor, Okla.; son Eddie and Deborah Austin of Bentonville; daughters DeAnn and Lindall McMaster of Maysville and Angela Allen of Pryor, Okla.; six grand daughters and seven great-grandchildren; step-son Lonnie and Debbie Teague of Pryor; step-daughter Sherry and Mark Whitley of Tulsa, Okla.; five step-grandchildren and seven step great-grandchildren; brother Bryand and Janet Austin and sister Verlene Couch all of Siloam Springs, Ark.; sisters-in-law Marilyn Hammons of Owasso, Okla.; Sherry McMillen of Gentry, Ark.; Imogene Wester of Pryor; many nieces and nephews.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Jo; and two step great grandchildren.
Services were held on Dec. 9.
Contributions can be made to the Maysville Missionary Baptist Church or the National Parkinson's Foundation.
