Joseph Algie Morton Sr., 91, of Bradford died Sunday, June 30, 2002, in Judsonia.

Born March 16, 1911, in the Denmark community, he was the son of Joseph Edward and Rosa Albert Morton. He married Lola Stuart on Nov. 22, 1933. He retired from General Industries as a custodian and was a member of the Possum Grape Church of Christ. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in World War II, and was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening, especially growing okra.

Survivors include two sons, Glen Morton of Kingsburg, Calif., and Joe Morton Jr. of Bradford; two daughters, Elizabeth Ware of Searcy and Linda Van Winkle of Bradford; four brothers, Lowell Morton, Leon Morton, Jay Morton and Doyle Morton, all of Kingsburg; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, Bobby Lee Morton; a brother, Luther Morton; and two sisters, Bessie Morton and Ruby Ikerd.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Possum Grape Church of Christ. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery under the direction of Jackson's Newport Funeral home.
