Robert Oscar Willis, 86, of Jay, passed into eternity on Sunday, January 4, 2015. Robert was born on his grandmother's Indian allotment in Anadarko, Oklahoma on April 17, 1928. He was the son of Oscar Wyatt Willis and Clara Julia Jeschke. He signed with the Merchant Marines in 1945 and graduated from Fort Gibson High School in 1946. He was a member of the Church of Christ, having obeyed the Gospel in 1974. Robert was also a member of the American Legion in Grove, Oklahoma. He owned a grocery store along with his father in Inola, Oklahoma. He worked for Spartan Trailer and also for American Airlines for three years. In 1957, he joined the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. He retired from the Patrol in 1986. Robert also served as Delaware County Deputy Sheriff under Jim Earp from 1989-1993. Robert is survived by companion and friend Ufama DeWitt of Grove, Oklahoma; four children, Doug Willis and wife Linda of Pryor, Wayne Willis and wife Pam of Houston, TX, David Willis of Claremore, and Lynn Willis of Inola; three step-children, Tony Rockefeller of Tulsa, Steve Brown and wife Beverly of Inola, Diane Kepke and husband Ryan of Jay; sisters Patricia Moore and husband Raymond of Mannford, Carolyn Sue Chasteen of Inola; fourteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, as well as a wealth of family and friends. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Elton and sister Joann Spriggs. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, January 8, 2015, at the Grand Lake Funeral Home Chapel in Jay, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Friday, January 9, 2015 at the Grand Lake Funeral Home Chapel in Jay, Oklahoma. Ryan W. Kepke will officiate, assisted by Donnie Chasteen. Interment will take place at the Maysville Cemetery in Maysville, Arkansas with services conducted by Oklahoma Highway patrol Chaplain Sam Garner. Arrangements entrusted to Grand Lake Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Jay, located at 311 West Gray.

WILLIS -- Doris Yvonne (Long). 1931 - 2006. Doris Willis, 74, Jay, OK resident, passed from this life on Sunday, April 2, 2006, after a brave 3 year battle with lung cancer. She was born in Maysville, AR on July 19, 1931, the daughter of Thomas and Floy Long. She attended Jay School. She was retired from the State Department of Tourism. She is survived by: husband, Robert Willis of the home; 3 children, Diane Kepke and husband, Ryan of Jay, Steve Brown and wife, Beverly of Inola, OK, Anthony Rockefeller of Tulsa; 7 grandchildren, Lisa, Julie, Jana, Morgan, Shannon, Mykel and Kyle; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Norma Hendren and husband, Julian of Gravette, AR and Imogene Wardlow of Tulsa; and many friends and family. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at the Turner Funeral Chapel in Jay. Ryan W. Kepke will officiate, assisted by Danny Bingham. Interment will be in Maysville Cemetery. The family received friends Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at the Turner Funeral Chapel. Service is entrusted to Turner Funeral Chapel of Jay.
