Colonel Mary F. Wilhite (Ret.) of Hot Springs, Arkansas, died Saturday, January 9, 2010. Col. Wilhite was 77 years, 5 months, and 12 days old. She was the daughter of the late Audy and Dolena (Fryar) Wilhite.
Col. Wilhite was a retired United States AIR FORCE veteran. She served as a nurse in the Viet Nam War; and was a member of the Hot Springs Showmen's Club; a member of the Virginia Kelley's Democratic Women's Committee; and a member of the Elks Club.
Col. Wilhite was preceded in death by her parents; a sister: Betty Sevier; and a niece: Cindy Cowart.
She is survived by a brother: Charles F. Wilhite, of Little Rock, Arkansas; a sister: Jane Cowart, of Glenwood, Arkansas; four nieces: June Harter and Karen Bell both of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Jennifer Kelly of Franklin, Tennessee and Amanda Hence, of Jacksonville, Arkansas; a nephew: Terry Cowart, of Bartlett, Tennessee; former Air Force personnel; and good friends.
Graveside services were held on Tuesday, January 12, 2010, in the Glenwood Cemetery. Rev. Ronnie Inman, officiated the services. Col. Wilhite was given full military honors by the Honor Guard of the United States Air Force.
