Charles George Hartley, 62, of Star City, Arkansas passed away Monday, September 14, 2009 at his home.
Mr. Hartley was born April 27, 1947 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late William Charles Hartley and the late Helen Ruth Gunther Mims.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Hudson Hartley; two daughters, Linda and husband, Mike Rodgers, and Loretta Hartley, all of Star City; grandchildren, Michael Whitson of Star City, Jason Whitson of Star City and Harley Cotton of Star City, Whitney Phillips of Memphis, Tennessee, Ashley Michelle Stokes of Star City, Brannon Rodgers of Star City and Micha Jones of Star City; great-grandchildren, Mason Whitson, Katie Rodgers, Kinsey Rodgers, Haley Graves and Zach Nicholson; sisters, Rosemary Dunlap and husband, Sam, of Helena, Arkansas, Helen Newkirk and husband, Noonie, of Texas, Marilyn Mims-McClurg and husband, Phillip, of Helena, Myrtle Copeland and husband, Charlie, of Mountain Home, Arkansas and Kathy Mims of Olive Branch, Mississippi; brothers, Donald Ray Hartley and wife, Virginia, of Helena and Robert Mims, Jr. and wife, Vicki, of Colorado; an uncle, George Gunther of West Helena, Arkansas; and an aunt Margaret Lewis of Isabelle, Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by a grandson, Derrick Lane Hartley.
Services for Charles Hartley will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, September 17, 2009 at Roller-Citizens. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Roller-Citizens. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park in West Helena, Arkansas. Brother Don Borlin will officiate.
Pallbearers are Mike Moneymaker, Leroy Peeples, Edward Mitchell, Robert Dunlap, Sambo Dunlap, Sammy Mims, Eddie Bo James and Richard Phillips. Honorary pallbearers are Timothy Hartley, Leland Hartley, Willie Mims, Jerry Hudson and Donald Hartley.
