Peggy JoAnn Cross Shourd, 71, of the Denmark Community, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, December 6, 2017. She was born April 25, 1946 in White County to the late Raymond and Mary Lou (Osborne) Combs. Peggy was retired from the Bald Knob Public School District after more than 25 years as Food Service Manager. She was a member of the New Bethel General Baptist Church and she enjoyed cooking and caring for her family.
She is survived by her husband, Vernon Shourd; sons, Wade Cross (Debbie) and Randy Cross (Tammy); step-children, Rick Shourd (Kathy), Dianna Meeks (Kenny), Kay Williams (Scott) and Jon Shourd (Cathy); sister, Carolyn Deeter; brothers, Ricky Combs, Mickey Combs and Dale Combs; 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends..
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Duane Cross; a granddaughter, Paige Cross; sister, Lucille Combs.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the New Bethel General Baptist Church with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Cross – Hodge Cemetery in the Denmark community.
