Merlin H. (Andy) Anderson, 83, of Springdale died Sunday, Sept. 11, 1994.
Born April 18, 1911, he was a registered professional engineer in water and waste water conditioning, including public health engineering, equipment sales, plant design and administration. He received a bachelor's degree in civil engineering in 1935 from Iowa State University. Anderson was president of General Filter from 1958-76 and served as president of the Iowa State University Research Foundation.
He was a veteran of World War II and served four years as an officer in the U.S. Army, including service in Japan and the Philippines.
Survivors are his wife, Carrie Holland Anderson; two sons, Joe Anderson of Wabash, Ind., and Tom Anderson of Spring Grove, Ill.; one daughter, Nancy Anderson of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fayetteville. Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery off Monitor Road near Springdale.
The family suggests that donations be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

Carrie Holland Anderson, 84, of Springdale, died Friday, Sept. 30, 1994. Born July 27, 1910 at central Iowa, the daughter of Toliff and Clara Holland, she was a homemaker. She spoke only Norwegian when she began school. In 1935, she received a bachelors' degree in home economics from Iowa State University. She worked for the extension service for many years. She was active in various community organizations. She was an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church at Fayetteville, and a member of PEO Chapter G at Springdale. She enjoyed working with plants and flowers. She moved to Springdale in 1976 from Ames, Iowa, after her husband, Merlin H. (Andy) Anderson retired.
Survivors are a daughter, Nancy K. Anderson of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two sons, Joe Anderson of Wabash, Ind., and Tom Anderson of Spring Grove, Ill.; two sisters, Esther Wicks of Story City, Iowa, and Lovilla Schindele of Salinas, Calif.; two brothers, A. Tilman Holland of Lincoln, Neb., and Erick M. Holland of Denver, Colo.; and six grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Burial will he at Wilson Cemetery near Springdale. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 4 p.m. today at Sisco funeral Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations he made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
