BELLA VISTA — Gary Scantlin, 25, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Saturday, April 7, 2012, at Northwest Medical Center, Bentonville, Ark. He was born Oct. 24, 1986 in Gravette, Ark., to James Edward Scantlin and Debbie Kay (Stacy) Scantlin.

He was raised and educated in Gravette, and graduated from Gravette High School. He was a member of the Hiwasse Christian Church. Gary loved bowling and belonged to the Tuesday Men's League. He was also a weight-lifter, loved deer hunting and was an avid sports fan. More than anything, he loved spending time with his son, Grayson, who was the light of his life.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, James H. Scantlin.

Gary is survived by his parents, Ed and Debbie Scantlin of Bella Vista, Ark.; his fiance, Whitney Allison; his son, Grayson Edward Scantlin of Bella Vista; paternal grandmother, Ella Scantlin of Hiwasse, Ark.; maternal grandparents, Sue and Larry Drake of Rogers, Ark.; brothers, Alex Hammontree of Hiwasse, Dan Hammontree of Jane, Mo., Max Hammontree of Farmington, Ark., and James Scantlin of Bentonville, Ark.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at the Bella Vista Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Hiwasse, Ark.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at Arvest Bank. Contributions may be made at any Arrest Branch.

Arrangements are by the Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd. Bella Vista, Ark.
