When Jacob Earhart was born on February 11, 1842, in Palmyra, Missouri, his father, Philip, was 29 and his mother, Leanna, was 22. He married Sarah Virginia Redd and they had two children together. He also had two sons and two daughters from another relationship. He died on October 13, 1917, in Stuttgart, Arkansas, having lived a long life of 75 years, and was buried there.
