Obituary:
Jackie T Wallis was born Feb. 28, 1943 in the little farm house where his parents, JT and Ruth made their home. He was actually born premature and placed in a shoebox in a drawer. He was named Moses Green after his grandfather but even early on showed his independent character by changing his name to Jackie Terry Wallis after his dad.
Most of his life was spent traveling in order to follow work and he and the family lived in number of states from time to time but always returning to the little plot of ground in Velvet Ridge Arkansas where he considered his permanent home.
It was on one of these trips to the Kansas oil fields where he met the girl who would be his wife. After being wed he brought her home to the little farm in AR where they would raise their two children.
He dug a well and built their home from the rocks from the very ground where he walked, played and farmed as a child.
He is survived by his wife, Connie (Mead) Wallis; son, Shayne Wallis (Michelle) of Searcy; grandson, Eli Wallis; daughter, Jacque Lynn (Wallis) Jones (Lonnie) of Huntsville, Alabama; granddaughter, Loni Beth Watkins (Tyler); sister, Evelyn (Wallis) Waller (Allen) of Dewitt, Michigan; 29 "Special" nieces and nephews.
He passed peacefully from this life June 18, 2015 3:30 in the afternoon at home in the presence of his beloved Connie and son, Shayne... about 20 feet from the spot where he was born.
His wife of 51 years, children and grandchildren will celebrate his life and share their memories at the Velvet Ridge Church of Christ fellowship hall on Monday, June 22, 2015. No formal service. The visitation and closing of the casket will be from 1:00- 3:00 pm. Immediately following the visitation, a Celebration of Life reception will begin
for ALL friends and family, food will be served. Jackie won't be there. He has gone to his real home... the only place he longed for more than the little farm in Velvet Ridge, AR.
Arrangements are entrusted to Powell Funeral Home, Bald Knob - Judsonia.
