When Martha Florentine Louise Knoernschild was born on August 8, 1885, in Augusta, Missouri, her father, Friedrich, was 17, and her mother, Katharine, was 18. She married Heinrich (Henry) John George Beumer on February 20, 1908, in her hometown. They had one child during their marriage. She died on June 28, 1970, at the age of 84, and was buried in Stuttgart, Arkansas.
