SPRINGDALE — Weldon Homer Deen, 79, of Springdale died Dec. 23, 2013, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born Jan. 14, 1934, in Winslow, Ark., to Clifford I. and Jewell Sebourn Deen.

He was a United States Army veteran. Deen was a retired mechanic for JTL and was a member of Elmdale Baptist Church. "Uncle Cotton" to his nieces and nephews, he was an avid outdoorsman and first-rate mechanic. He loved tractors, the music of Bob Wills and his dog Gretchen. He will be remembered for his slight frame, large appetite and hearty laugh. He and his wife were lifelong residents of Springdale. In their retirement years, they enjoyed volunteering at the Jones Center for Families.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty Lou Deen of the home, one sister, Joanne Baker of Springdale.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale. Burial will follow at Bluff Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 12 Noon till 2 p.m.

SPRINGDALE — Betty Lou Deen 87, of Springdale passed away Monday, Jan. 12, 2020, in Springdale. She was born Aug. 20, 1932, in Avoca, Ark., to Arthur and Chelsea Hoskins Welborn.

She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for over 34 years. She enjoyed listening to gospel hymns, playing the piano and drinking coffee. She loved her four dogs: Punkin, Cindy, Gretchen, and Taffy. She also loved to talk. She was a member of the Elmdale Baptist Church in Springdale.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Weldon Homer Deen.

Survivors include sisters Ollie and Berna and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020, at noon at Bluff Cemetery in Springdale. Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. to noon at Sisco Funeral Chapel in Springdale. Memorials may be made to The Jones Center, 922 Emma Ave., Springdale, Ark., 72764. Online condolences may be left at www.siscofuneral.com.
