SPRINGDALE — Lester Bernard Hancock, 92, of Springdale passed away Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020, at Washington Regional Hospice in Fayetteville. Lester was born Nov. 7, 1927, in Goreville, Ill., a son of Almous J. Hancock and Opal Jane Platter.

Lester was married to Pearl Madge Hancock in 1947 in Goreville, Ill. Lester honorably served in the Army from August 1952 to August 1954 in Germany as an engineer. Lester then went on to work as an industrial dye caster. He was a talented musician and led a band called the Nu Tones as a young man.

Lester was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Pearl Hancock; brother Vernon Hancock of Fayetteville, Ark.; brother-in-law Joe Howell of Spokane, Wash.; and sisters-in-law Judie Hancock of Denver, Colo. and Mildred Rast of Antioch, Ill.

Lester is survived by daughter Sandra Hagihara; granddaughters Juliette and Catherine of Fayetteville, Ark.; brother James Hancock of Marionville, Ill.; nieces Barbara Hagan of Las Vegas, Nev., Sharon Hoffman and Debby Dawes of Illinois; and nephew Dennis Hancock of Griffithville, Ark.

Special appreciation is extended to Lori Winters of Springdale, Ark., and the caregivers of Avenir Memory Care, Fayetteville, Ark., for the care and companionship they shared with Lester.

SPRINGDALE — Pearl Madge Hancock, 81, of Springdale died April 7, 2009. She was born March 17, 1928, in Williamson, Ill., to Herschel and Vina Coffer Howell.

She was a licensed practical nurse.

Survivors include her husband, Lester B. Hancock, a daughter, Sandra Hagihara of Fayetteville; a brother, Joe Howell of Spokane, Wash.; a sister, Mildred Rast of Antioch, Ill.; two grandchildren.

No services are planned.

Cremation arrangements are by Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Springdale, online at www.backstrom-pyeatte.com.
