FAYETTEVILLE — Charlie Thomas Jenkins, age 99, of Fayetteville, Ark., died Friday, July 2, 2010, at Fayetteville Health and Rehab Center. He was born on Oct. 2, 1910, in Greenwood, Ark., a son of Thomas and Mollie (Epley) Jenkins.

Charlie was recruited to play baseball for Phillips Oil Company in Texas. After his baseball career, he stayed with the company and retired after 43 years. After retirement, he returned to Arkansas and had a home on Beaver Lake.

He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Florence (Honea) Jenkins; one daughter, Shirley May and her husband, Dean, of Fayetteville, Ark.; one son, Tom Jenkins and his wife, Suzanne, of Fayetteville, Ark.; one grandson, Steve Jenkins of St. Louis, Mo.; one granddaughter, Denise May of Bangladesh; one great-granddaughter, Isabella Jenkins of St. Louis, Mo.; and one niece, Marilyn Medrick of Dallas, Texas.

A graveside service to be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 12, 2010, at Bluff Cemetery with Pastor Steve Jordan of Hickory Creek Baptist Church officiating.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the Fayetteville Health and Rehab Center far their care of Charlie during the past year.

FAYETTEVILLE — Florence Jenkins, 95, of Fayetteville, Ark., passed away on April 15, 2014, at the Fayetteville Health and Rehab Center. She was born in Greenwood, Ark., on Nov. 30, 1918, to Virgil and Savanah Honea.

She and her husband, Charlie, lived in Phillips, Texas, for 43 years before moving back to Arkansas and buying a home on Beaver Lake.

Florence loved to be around her family and friends. She was a member of the Hickory Creek Baptist Church. She worked for several years as a greeter for Walmart and enjoyed her job.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, Charlie Jenkins; and a niece, Marilyn Medrick.

Florence is survived by a daughter, Shirley May and her husband, Dean, a son, Tom Jenkins and his wife, Suzanna, all of Fayetteville, Ark.; a granddaughter, Denise May and Curtis of Dhaka, Bangladesh; a grandson, Steve Jenkins and Leah of St. Louis, Mo.; and a great-granddaughter, Isabella Jenkins of St. Louts, Mo.

A private service will be held at a later date.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the Fayetteville Health and Rehab Center for their care of Florence during her stay there.

Memorials can be made in her name to the American Diabetes Association, 1732 Moberly Lane, Suite B, Bentonville, AR 72712.
