1925 - 2015

George O. Catton Jr., 89, of Batesville died Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at a local nursing home.

He was born in Scott, on November 9, 1925 and was the son of George O. Catton Sr. and Rose Garner Catton.

George attended Arkansas Tech University and UALR. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps and liked to camp, fish, and garden. Family gatherings and fish fries were something he enjoyed. He liked all music, especially country music and he played the guitar. George was a quiet, humble man and was a real gentleman. He was a member of both the Kiwanis and Rotary Club. He worked for 40 years with the U. S. Postal Service and was postmaster at Berryville and Batesville. George was a member of the First Baptist Church in Batesville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son, Michael Lynn Catton.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Rosemary (Osborne) Catton of Batesville; a daughter, Melanye Satterfield and her husband, Robert, of Stockton, CA; a grandson, Jason Bragg, also of Stockton. Other survivors include his sisters, Martha Brumbelow of Benton, and Carole Mayfield and her husband, Jim, of Fairfield Bay. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, and friends; and his special caregiver, Jane Brunson.

Funeral services were held at Roller-Crouch Chapel with Bro. Stacy Reed officiating assisted by K. Michael Osborne.

Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.

Pallbearers were Bill Davis, Wayne Anderson, Charley Osborne, Gerald Fuller, K. Michael Osborne, and Chuck Osborne.
