**Obituary
Hubert Clifton Sellers Jr., 79, of Batesville died Sunday, October 27, 2013 at his home.

He was born August 20, 1934 at Wirth, Arkansas, the oldest child of Hubert Clifton and Mae Beatrice Break Sellers.

He graduated from Hardy High School in 1953 and was a U. S. Army veteran. He graduated from Arkansas College (now Lyon College) in 1962 with a BA in science and minors in history and psychology and was on the Dean's list. While a student, he taught the freshman biology classes for one semester.


On June 2, 1962, he married Joan Ophelia Hall and on June 2, 2012, they renewed their wedding vows. March 3, 1966 he became father to daughter, Lorelei Sellers Everetts.

He worked in the grocery business from the age of twelve until he retired at the age of 62. He began working at his family business at Sellers' Store near Wirth, and also worked at Clay's Market in Hardy, AR., Kroger's Store in Batesville, AR., Prettyman's Supermarket, Inc. in Casa Grande, AZ and PDQ Market in Casa Grande and was part owner of each. He was also co-owner of Payson Liquor's in Payson, AZ and worked in other short term jobs.

He was a Mason, a lifetime member of the Optimist International, a charter member of the Optimist Club of Casa Grande, AZ where he was president, secretary, new club building chairman and Optimist of the year several times. He was also a member of the Optimist Club of Maricopa, AZ, served on the board of the Civil Air Patrol of Casa Grande, AZ and on the board of the Casa Grande Counseling Service. He and his wife formed the White River Parkinson's Disease Support Group and were leaders for several years.
He loved his family and organized several reunions for them. When he became your friend, he was a true friend forever. He collected Indian rugs, pottery and baskets, table top scales, stamps, coins, and often said the money he spent of his collections was his smoking and drinking money as he did neither. He loved animals, especially his dogs and cats. He was a member of the Central Avenue United Methodist Church in Batesville and was a wonderful husband, father, uncle, son, son-in-law, brother, grandfather and was known as "Poppa" by family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joan Ophelia Hall Sellers; a daughter, Lorelei Sellers Everetts and her husband, Jeff Everetts of Batesville, granddaughters, Kristin Joy Ophelia Sellers Everetts and Dawn Reeves of Batesville, grandson, Chad Everetts of Batesville, a sister, Iva Marie Williams of Bakersfield, CA, a brother, Gary Wayne Sellers of NM and a sister-in-law, B. Joyce Hall of Arlington, TX.

Other survivors include a nephew and a niece, William and Heather McKinley whom they raised and Vanessa Sellers whom they helped to raise. He is also survived by other nieces, Shari Kent and Sommar Morrow and nephews: Jeff Williams, Scott Sellers, Mark E. Sellers, David C. Sellers, and Cameron Sellers.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Gladys McKinley, two brothers: Ray D. Sellers and Raymond Lee Sellers, and a nephew, Danny Williams.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home in Batesville with Bro. Paul Seay officiating.

Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
