Larry Lynn Owen, 61, of Greenwood, died July 28, 2018. He was born November 10, 1956 in Ft. Smith to Claude Lee and Helen Marie (Trimble) Owen. He was a successful car fabricator specializing in modern and classic restorations. He was also a respected music promoter who assisted many acts as they gained prominence.
Larry owned Quarter Moon Productions that brought music to the tristate area including Lynard Skynard, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Kentucky Headhunters, Confederate Railroad, Blackfoot, Foghat, Pat Travers, his longtime friend, Merle Haggard, Marshall Tucker Band, Black Oak Ark, Molly Hatchet, Loen Russell, Buddy Guy, and the list goes on and on.
He was known as “the man” to all his friends and they thank him for the music. He will be missed by all.
Larry is survived by the love of his life, Shelly Pryor, and Jason Dillard, the son he never had and loved with all his heart; two nephews, Bobby Daugherty and Samuel Daugherty both of Tulsa; and one niece, Julia Thompson of Rogers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, George Daugherty; and maternal grandparents, J.D. Trimble, who was Springdale’s first constable, and Emma Easterly Trimble, one of the area’s first telephone operators.
Private burial was at Bluff Cemetery. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
