When Powell Willard Cofer was born on July 31, 1915, in White, Arkansas, his father, William, was 37 and his mother, Lillie, was 39. He married Katie Ruth Evans on April 11, 1943, in Searcy, Arkansas. They had three children during their marriage. He died on January 29, 2003, in Beebe, Arkansas, at the age of 86.
