Mr. Jesse "Carl" Aiken, 84, died Monday, January 17, 2011, at Silver Oaks Health and Rehabilitation Center in Camden, Arkansas. He was born October 16, 1926 in Crossett, Arkansas. Mr. Aiken was an honor graduate of the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. He was the assistant Personnel Director at the Camden mill for 11 years. He retired with 27 years of service as Personnel and Industrial Relations Director of the Natchez, Mississippi mill in December 1983. He was active member of the First Baptist Church in Natchez, Mississippi and Camden, Arkansas where he served as an ordained deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years. He was an active member of the Camden Good Sam R. V. chapter. While working, he served as the President of the Camden Kiwanis Club and the Natchez Lions Club. Mr. Aiken was the author of two children's books. He served in the Pacific theatre of Operations in the Army during WW II.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jeff Curtis and Eula Mae Aiken; and a brother, Lester Curtis Aiken. He is survived by his wife, Harriett Mauney Aiken of Camden; a daughter, Kay Vanlandingham (Joe) and granddaughter, Kelly Vanlandingham of El Dorado, Arkansas. Other survivors include a brother, James Edward Aiken (Ella Faye) of Plano, Texas; a sister, Linda Annette Moore (Karl) of Landrum, South Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at the First Baptist Church in Camden at 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 20, 2011. Burial will follow at the Camden Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund of Camden, Arkansas or the Gideon Memorial Bible Fund. Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
