FAYETTEVILLE - Margaret Elizabeth Hickerson Johnson, 90, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at Butterfield Trail Village in Fayetteville, Ark. She was born Oct 5, 1926, in the community of Frog Jump, Gibson County, Tenn., to Ervin Johnson Hickerson and Sarah Jane Flowers Hickerson.

She married J. W "Bill" Johnson April 2, 1949, in Logan County, Ark. She was a long time resident of Springdale, Ark., and was a devoted and faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Springdale. She and Bill cultivated many friends in the church, the community and among the employees of Jones Truck Line where Bill was employed for approximately 30 years.

For a period of time Margaret worked as a bookkeeper for Bruce and Mary Vaughn when they operated Image One Studio, an art gallery, frame shop and studio, located on Emma Avenue in Springdale back in the 1970s and 1980s. She was a devoted wife, home maker and member of the Springdale Garden Club. She owned and loved several dachshunds during her lifetime.

She and Bill were avid photographers and enjoyed a photograph processing room in their home. She loved traveling with Bill primarily on trips to the American west where they enjoyed and photographed beautiful landscapes, Indian ruins and other places of interest.

She also loved traveling with her sister Evelyn. She would recall fondly the experience of traveling with Evelyn to the Middle East and to the holy lands. Although Margaret and Bill had no children, she enjoyed and took pride in her nieces and nephews. She loved her family. Her heart was constantly saddened by losing Bill in 2002.

She is also preceded in death by her father, her mother and a brother, Earl Hickerson of Berea, Ky. She is survived by one sister, Evelyn Hickerson Klein of St. Louis, Mo., and numerous nieces and nephews.

Margaret will be honored with a closed casket visitation by friends and relatives at Sisco Funeral Chapel on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 2 p.m. A brief ceremony will follow the visitation at the gravesite at Friendship Cemetery at 3 p.m. Online condolences may be left at www.siscofuneral.com.
