When Clifton Clarence Strayhorn and his twin sister Clemmie F were born on July 22, 1903, in Ar, Gotland, Sweden, their father, John, was 40, and their mother, Mollie, was 35. He married Cordia Arzona Stracener in 1922. They had two children during their marriage. He died on March 31, 1981, in Lonoke, Arkansas, at the age of 77, and was buried in White, Arkansas.
