When Jake Willis Elenburg was born on December 12, 1879, in Whitesburg, Tennessee, his father, Ancil, was 17 and his mother, Mary, was 21. He married Mary Emera Coffey on August 19, 1903. They had nine children in 19 years. He died on January 28, 1960, at the age of 80, and was buried in White, Arkansas.
