FRANKLIN W. "FRANK" GUTHRIE
ELIZA JANE (LIZA JANE) BONNER
When Mary Elizabeth "Bessie" Guthrie was born on October 11, 1884, in Lawrence, Arkansas, her father, FRANKLIN, was 30, and her mother, ELIZA, was 29. She had one brother and two sisters. She died on August 15, 1967, in Judsonia, Arkansas, at the age of 82, and was buried in Plainview, Arkansas.
A quote from "A HISTORY OF THE BETHEL GROVE CHURCH OF CHRIST, by Paul E Miller, 1991.
"Mary Elizabeth Guthrie, 1885 - 1967, better known as "Miss Bessie", was a member of a White County pioneer family who came to Arkansas from South Carolina while Arkansas was still a territory.
Her grandfather Samuel was the first County Judge, 1838-1842 and 1844-1845.
Miss Bessie never married, having given most of her early and middle life to caring for family members. After their deaths she lived alone. She was a very extensive reader and a student of the Bible. Many were amazed at her very intelligent discussions during public Bible study. She likely had memorized more scripture than any other person in the congregation".
