Stephen Van Bates, 40, of Judsonia, died Sunday, August 17, 2008. Stephen was born October 21, 1967 in Memphis Tennessee and was a construction worker.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth (Winningham) Bates of the home; a son, Dustin Bates; daughters, Nicole and Ashley Bates and a step-daughter, Erin Halley; father and step-mother, Paul and Susie Bates; mother and step-father, Rebecca and Larry Smith; brothers, Tony Sorrentino and wife Jolene, Nathan Sorrentino and wife Christy and Hank Armstrong and his fiance, Chrissy Hill; a sister, Michelle Spewart and husband Shawn; step-sister, Renea Polk and husband Willie; 2 grandsons, Malachai and Cameron. Stephen was preceded in death by his grandparents, Flossie and Bill Bates and Mae and Bob Taylor.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 beginning at 3:00 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be conducted at 5:00 p.m. with cremation following. Arrangements are entrusted to Powell Funeral Home, Bald Knob-Judsonia
