Robert Francis Burns, 78, died Wednesday in a local hospital. The funeral will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at the Cullendale First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Memorial Park with Proctor's Funeral Home in charge. Mr. Burns was born in Ringgold, Ga., Nov. 14, 1897. He taught for 26 years in Camden and Fairview Schools, retiring from Fairview in 1958. He was a veteran of WWWI, served 26 years in the Army Reserve including eight years of active duty during the WWII period. He was a member of the American Legion for 48 years, an honorary life member of the Masons, and a Baptist deacon for 43 years. He was a member of the Cullendale First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Malva Lee Burns, one daughter, Mrs. Betty Smart of Dallas, Tex.; four brothers, Luther Burns of Hemet, Calif., Tom Burns of Clear Lake, Iowa, George Burns of Arlington, Tex., and Archie Burns of Texarkana, and two grandchildren.
