James Boyd, age 65, of Glenwood, died Saturday, January 17, 2015. He was born on February 8, 1949, at Walnut Ridge, the son of Ernest Lee Boyd and Velma Maglene Chastain Boyd. On December 27, 1972, he was married to Judy Ann Whitlow.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He grew up in Poughkeepsie; in his earlier years he worked as a deck hand on barges on the Mississippi River and the Ohio River; he helped his dad with the Lake Greeson cleanup; and in his later years he worked for over twenty years as a telephone lineman. He was a member of Caney Valley Missionary Baptist Church. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Boyd; his son, Mark Boyd; his daughter and son-in-law, Velma and Daniel Neal; seven brothers and their spouses, Bill and Corena Boyd, Harold and Martha Lou Boyd, Winston Dennis "Denny" Boyd, Bernard and Pat Boyd, Mike and Carol Boyd, Royce and Becky Boyd and John and Lori Boyd; one uncle, D.B. Chastain; and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 21, 2015, in the Old Lebanon Cemetery in Eaton with Charles McKendree officiating.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.
