Dr. Walter L. Porter, 82, of Searcy went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, October 15, 2014. He was born on Thursday, June 30, 1932 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas to the late Louis and Hazel McIntire Porter.

Dr. Porter graduated from Pepperdine University with his undergraduate degree and Masters degree and then from George Peabody University, now Vanderbilt University, he obtained his PHd. He was a professor of Psychology at Harding University for 26 years, a member of Foothills Church of Christ and was a Naval aviator during the Korean War. After retirement Dr. Porter was the author of many religious books.

Dr. Porter is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Genette Porter; and a brother, Harold Porter.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Genelle Hager Porter of the home; a son, Harold Porter and his wife Misun of Brentwood, Tennessee; and two grandchildren, Jonathon and Sarah Porter of Brentwood.

Visitation will be Friday, October 17, 2014, 6:00-8:00PM at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home (501)268-3546. Funeral service will be Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 2:00PM in the funeral home chapel with Mr. Randy Rankin and Mr. Harold Porter officiating. Interment with Naval honors will follow in White County Memorial Gardens.
