November 25, 1928 - July 25, 2013
Demus Roy Sutherland, 84, of Wichita, Kansas, formerly of Ozark, Arkansas, died, Thursday, July 25, 2013 in Wichita.
He was retired from Inland Cold Storage and a thirteen year Army Veteran. He was a member of the Ozark Masonic Lodge, a member of the American Legion and the NRA and a lifetime member of DAV.
He was born November 25, 1928 in Franklin County to Sidney and Nora Sutherland.
He was preceded in death by four brothers Frank, Ewell, Dewey and Johnny Sutherland and one sister, Hallie Dobbins.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, July 29, 2013 at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Daniel Kesterson officiating with burial at Highland Cemetery, under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.
He is survived by his wife of 53 and a half years, Joicy Brumley Sutherland of Wichita; two daughters, Jelane Pipkin and husband Jim of Wichita and Donna Vilinsky and husband Terry of Springhill, Kansas; two sons, Jack Morris of Hutchinson, Kansas and Ron Morris of Springhill; one sister, Allie Sitz of Ozark; seven grandchildren, Greg and Jeff Morris, Wendy Stephenson, Jaime Ford, Daemon Hatfield, Sara Read and Jesseca Clark; eighteen great grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Shaffer Funeral Home 2315 W. Commercial in Ozark.
Pallbearers will be Jack, Ron, Greg and Jeff Morris, Terry Vilinsky, Jim Pipkin and Daemon Hatfield. Honorary will be nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
