Mrs. Mervil A. Burson, 54, of 841 Rock Island, died at 9 p.m. Monday in a local hospital. Born Oct. 9, 1914, in Nevada County, she was the daughter of Jesse and Betty F. McCarley Johnson. A lifelong resident of Arkansas, she had resided in the El Dorado area for 45 years. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Earl C. Burson; a son, Earl David Burson of El Dorado; two daughters, Mrs. Paul Rowland of Junction City and Mrs. Jimmy Darden of Dallas, Tex.; a brother, Arlis J. Johnson of Pacifica, Calif., and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Southside Baptist Church with Dr. J. Paul Palmer officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery under the direction of Rumph Mortuary. Active pallbearers will be Linnie Shankle, Bert Savage, C. L. Church, C. Wolf, Bobby Houldridge and John Massey. The body will remain at the mortuary until one hour prior to the services. (El Dorado Times - March 11, 1969)
