Earl Claxton Burson, 66, of 841 Rock Island St., died Wednesday in a local hospital following a brief illness. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Southside Baptist Church with the Rev. Harold Carter officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington Cemetery under the direction of Rumph Mortuary. Masonic rites will be conducted at the grave. Mr. Burson was born April 3, 1908 in Strong and was the son of Ike D. and Lela Canady Burson. He was a pipefitter by trade and was a member of the Southside Baptist Church. Mr. Burson was a member of El Dorado Masonic Lodge No. 13 F and AM. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Inez Evans Burson of El Dorado; a son Earl David Burson of Tulsa, Okla.; two daughters, Mrs. Paul Rowland of Junction City and Mrs. Jimmy Darden of Dallas, Tex.; a brother, Troy W. Burson, of Hope; and five grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Obie Hinsen, Eddie Duncan, John Massey, Bobby Duncan, Vernon Burson and Bobby Houldridge. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Men's Bible Class at Southside Baptist Church. (El Dorado News-Times - September 6, 1974)
