Max Whisenant, age 82, of Glenwood, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2016.
He was born on October 28, 1933 at Glenwood, the son of Dale Whisenant and Lena Newcomb Whisenant. On January 12, 1984, he was married to Shirley Thrash.
A United States Air Force veteran, Max retired as a parts manager for General Motors. He always had a love for old cars, especially customs. When finished, his cars would always have the feel of the 50's with a little Elvis Presley on the side. Max was very involved with the planning of many of the car shows in the area.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Whisenant; his daughter and son-in-law, Shannon and David Hale; his grandson, Cory Hale; and his granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Lauren and Eric Parsons, all of Glenwood; two sisters, JoAnn Burks of New Caney, Texas and Sue Dale Snyder of Booneville; his nephews, Kenny McGrew and Eddie McGrew, both of Glenwood; and several other nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 6, 2016, in the Glenwood United Methodist Church with Rev. Lonnie Landers and Bro. Dale Hamilton officiating.
Visitation will be Friday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Interment will be in the Bethel Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
Pallbearers will be Kenny McGrew, Eddie McGrew, Kenny Ray McGrew, Tharold Cottrell, Dean Stafford and Chris Hale.
