Merry Curtis Holt, 65, of 301 Hathaway Dr., a retired Monsanto Co. gauger, died late Wednesday at his home after a brief illness. Mr. Holt was born in Lockesburg April 12, 1900, the son of Jessie Melvin and Alice Harrison Holt. He had Been a resident of this area for the last 43 years and was a member of First Baptist Church. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Clara Lambert Holt; a son, Thomas C. Holt of El Dorado; a daughter, Mrs. Wallace Benton of West Lafayette, Inc.; two brothers, W. B. Holt of New Boston, Tex., and J. B. Holt of DeQueen; four sisters, Mrs. O. O. Latimer and Miss Kate Holt, both of Fayetteville, Mrs. Earl Campbell of Durant, Okla. and Mrs. Joe Summers of Dallas, Tex., and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Dr. Don Harbuch officiating, assisted by the Rev. Jerry Wilson. Burial was in Arlington Cemetery under the direction of Young's. Pallbearers were R. A. Matlock, L. G. Coley, Gene Mills, Dwayne Bolton, Roy Davis, Larry Rabb and Howard Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. L. G. Fincher, Sr., J. C. Wood, Austin Aycock, Elton Daniels, and all pipeline employes of Lion Oil. (El Dorado Times - March 18, 1966)
