Obituary for Virginia Louise Newell
Virginia Louise Curry Newell, 99, beloved Mama, Ginyer and Gin Gin, passed from this life to her eternal home in Heaven on December 31, 2018. Born in Magnolia, Arkansas to the late El Colquitt and Ruth Borum Curry on July 11, 1919, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Ruth El, her husband, Robert Wendell Newell, and nephew, Mike Rogers. She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her children, Bob Newell, Jr., Jan Newell Kinzler (Steve), Nancy Caryl Newell and Patricia Annette Newell Norsworthy (Pat); grandchildren, Bob Newell III, Amy Newell, Andrew Kinzler (Nicole), Wendell Kinzler (Stacy), Taylor Kinzler, Brett Newell-Woods, Patton Norsworthy (Maegan), Austin Compton (Jeb) and Lance Norsworthy (Olivia); great-grandchildren, Winston Kinzler, Ellie Kinzler, Schaeffer Kinzler, Mabry Kinzler, June Norsworthy, John Patton Norsworthy and Curry Compton; special niece, Betty Rogers; and a host of other family and friends.
“Mama” was the greatest example of a loving, amazing, kind, amazing, gentle Southern Lady. She was a wonderful wife and mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and great-aunt. She loved her Lord and was a witness for Him all her life. She loved to play Bridge, was an avid Razorback fan, and loved discussing politics with fellow conservatives. She was a great storyteller, and exemplified a woman of the Greatest Generation. She served others selflessly and was a friend to many. Her beautiful smile, hugs and her graciousness will be missed by all who knew her.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 4th at Covenant Presbyterian Church, preceded by visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Rev. Tim Reed will officiate. Interment will follow at 3:30 p.m.at Arlington Memorial Park in El Dorado.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Arkansas Children’s Hospital, Franklin Graham, Samaritan’s Purse, Covenant Presbyterian Church, or the Wounded Warriors’ Project.
