Charles “Charlie” Edward Bridewell, Jr., 83, of Lake Village, died Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at the Chicot Memorial Hospital in Lake Village. Mr. Bridewell was born September 9, 1926, in Morrilton to the late Charles E. Bridewell Sr. and LaVerne Hellums Bridewell. He was a veteran of World War II, volunteering at the age of 18 for the Army Air Corps. He proudly served his country in the Philippines until the end of the war. He graduated from the University of Central Arkansas (formerly Arkansas State Teacher’s College) in 1949 and then moved to Montrose, where he farmed for over 30 years. He retired from management with Wilson-Pugh Corporation in 1998. He served as a member of the Board of Directors of Parkway Bank. He was a member of the Montrose United Methodist Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary Alice Guise Bridewell; two sons, Charles William Bridewell and Robert Guise Bridewell, Sr. all of Lake Village; five grandsons, William Burke Bridewell, Charles Edmund Bridewell, Robert Guise Bridewell, Jr., William Alexander Bridewell and Andrew Owen Bridewell. Graveside services and burial will be 2 p.m., Friday, December 4, 2009 in the Holy Innocents Cemetery on Stuart Island with Rev. Tony Hill officiating. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Friday at the Lakeside United Methodist Church in Lake Village. Pallbearers are Craig Shackelford, Bill Elliott, Jr., Regan Clark, Ronnie Berkemeyer, Earl Ashley, Benton Newcome, Bob Pugh, Guy “Bud” Botsford, Marvin Loyd, Tom Pugh and David Livingston. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Lakeside United Methodist Church, PO Box 192, Lake Village, AR 71653 or to the Arkansas Children’s Hospital, 1 Children’s Way, Slot 661, Little Rock, AR 72202.

Mary Alice Bridewell, 89, of Lake Village, died on Friday, July 28, 2017 at her residence. Mrs. Bridewell was born July 5, 1928 to William Wise Guise and Bertha Stinson Guise. She attended Arkansas State Teacher’s College (UCA) where she met the love of her life, Charles (Charlie) Edward Bridewell. They were married for almost 62 years and were residents of Montrose for 40 years before moving to Lake Village. They loved to travel together and with friends, and treasured their 25 years of traveling to Canada. She enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of several civic clubs, including Lake Village Century Club, and the VIP Investment Club. She was a member of the Montrose Methodist Church for 80 years and attended Lake Village United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Bridewell, known as “Shug” to all of her family, is survived by her two sons, Charles William Bridewell and Robert Guise Bridewell, Sr. and his wife, Mellie, all of Lake Village; five grandsons, William Burke Bridewell, Charles Edmund Bridewell, Robert Guise Bridewell, Jr. and wife, Payton, William Alexander Bridewell and wife, Autumn, Andrew Owen Bridewell and wife, Lanie; and two granddaughters, Lillie Garland Watson and Camille Lewis Watson.

Our family would like to extend a warm thank you to her caregivers: Donna, Jackie, Ruby, and especially Antonio.

Graveside services and burial are 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 1, 2017 in the Holy Innocents Cemetery in Lake Village with Rev. Bill Fish officiating. A memorial service will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at the Lakeside United Methodist Church in Lake Village. Pallbearers are Robert Guise Bridewell, Jr., William Alexander Bridewell, Andrew Owen Bridewell, Charlie Edmund Bridewell, Earl Ashley and Reagan Clark. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lakeside United Methodist Church, PO Box 192, Lake Village, AR 71653.
