Elbert Ernest Eubanks, Jr. ("Bert"), 75, died suddenly October 6, 2009 at his home in Sedalia, MO. He passed away two months and two days after the death of his wife Nancy of almost 53 years.

Bert Eubanks was born August 1, 1934 in Searcy, AR, son of Elbert Eubanks Sr. and Ella Lee Posey Eubanks. During World War II, while his father served, he was cared for by Grandparents, learning at a young age work ethics that enabled him to achieve his dream of becoming a pharmacist, which was seeded in him while working at Headlee Drug in Searcy. Despite the demands on his time, he managed to earn the coveted rank of Eagle Scout and became an Arkansas state high school champion trombone player. He graduated from Searcy High School in 1952 then attended Harding College in Searcy, ultimately graduating from St. Louis (MO) College of Pharmacy in 1956 becoming a Registered Pharmacist.

Bert married Nancy "Sudie" Campbelle in St. Louis August 18, 1956. Five children were born to this union. Bert worked as a retail pharmacist in Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas and finally ending in Sedalia, MO working at Bings East until disabled by chronic health issues in the early 1970's. As the years passed, he enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, internet chatting (he had been a ham radio operator, being skilled in Morse code), and enjoyed listening to country music.

Bert is survived by five children: Laura Sue Lewandowski (Christopher) of Rapid City, SD; Gregory Scott Eubanks (Christine) of Richmond, VA; Jonathan Mark Eubanks (Eva) of Sedalia; Robert Campbelle Eubanks of Linden, WA; Patrick Michael Eubanks of Independence, MO; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Bert's parents and his wife Nancy preceded him in death.

Graveside funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 12, 2009 at White County Memorial Garden Cemetery under the direction of Searcy McEuen Funeral Home. (501)352-9300
