When Roy Neal Showalter was born on November 28, 1927, in West Point, Arkansas, his father, Jesse, was 20 and his mother, Faye, was 17. He had three siblings. He died on December 14, 1985, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, at the age of 58, and was buried in Searcy, Arkansas.

Hot Springs
Roy Neal Showalter, aged 58, of Hot Springs, formerly of White County, died Friday. He was a retired cable manager for Southwester Bell Telephone Company, a World War II veteran, a Mason and a Baptist. Survivors are his wife, Allene Clay Showalter; a son, Roy L. Showalter of Searcy; a daughter, Laura Brown of El Dorado; his mother, Faye Showalter of Searcy; a brother, J. M. Showalter of Wichita Falls, Tex., and two sisters, Abbie Hazelbaker of Danville, Ill., and Hope Moulton of Searcy. Funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Daniel Funeral Home in Searcy. Burial will be in White County Memorial Gardens.
