Bobby Joe Hays, 76 of Doniphan passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. He was born October 5, 1936 in Port Byron, IL.

He was a port engineer on a riverboat. His hobbies included; boating, fishing, working on his truck, working in his yard, and traveling. He was a member of VFW and served in the US Navy on the USS Bigelow and Shenendoah from 1955-1959, during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Hays is survived by one sister, Verna Roebuck of Poplar Bluff; nieces, Julie Epps and husband Glenn of Poplar Bluff, Chris Guerrero and husband John of Jackson, MO; nephews Col. Glenn Hillis II(Washington, DC) and David Roebuck and wife Cindy of Orlando, FL; great niece: Caroline Hillis of Maryland; great nephews; Glenn Epps III and wife Bridget of Puxico, MO, Aaron Epps and wife Ashley of Poplar Bluff, and Adam Epps and wife Gabrielle of Poplar Bluff.

Mr. Hays was preceded in death by his parents; Samuel Hays and Irene Leonard-Hays and four brothers; John Hays (served in the Navy), Vearl Hays (served in the Navy), Harold Hays (served in the Army) and Darold Hays (served in the Army)

A graveside service will be held Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Corning City Cemetery. Full military honors will be performed. Rev. Jerry Lemons of Southside Assembly of God Church will be officiating.
