PRAIRIE CREEK - George "Dan" Yocum, 74, of Prairie Creek died June 20, 2000, at St Mary's Hospital in Rogers. He was born July 14, 1925, in Belle Plaine, Iowa, to George and Leone Case Yocum.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving on the USS St. Lo. He graduated from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa. He coached the Libyan Olympic Team, the ABA LA Stars, served as director of player personnel for the ABA Kentucky Colonels, and was the assistant basketball coach at Pepperdine University in Malibu, Calif. He attended Sunnyside Baptist Church in Rogers.

Survivors include his wife, Anita Mollner Yocum of the home; three daughters, Sara Yocum Bland of Rogers, Cynthia Yocum Laury of Elmira, Ore., Kathy Yocum Christensen of Mount Sterling, Ky.; four stepdaughters, Kathy Scott Higgins of Malibu, Calif., Diane Scott and Teri Scott, both of Los Angeles, Calif., and Suzy Scott Newman of Holland; one sister, Mrs. Edward Woerz of Rolling Hills, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sunnyside Baptist Church with pastor Marvin Stephens officiating.

Burial will be in Bland Cemetery. Military honors will be by the Bella Vista Post 9063.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Burns Funeral Home in Rogers.

Memorials may be made to the Gideons International.
